Why Infrared Touchscreens Becoming Popular

Capacitive and Resistive touch technology has been extensively used in a wide range of applications, particularly with their advanced versions. However, for applications in which these two touch technologies don’t integrate well, Infrared (IR) Touchscreens might be the best option.   What Is An Infrared Touchscreen? Applications with IR touchscreens support touch-based input in a similar way, as other touch technologies. However, the method by which IR touchscreens identify touch commands is entirely unique and happens with interruptions in uniform beams of light.   An infrared touchscreen is composed of an LCD monitor with an IR touch frame mounted around its perimeter. The IR touch frame is composed of Infrared LEDs and photodetectors. The frame has an optical bezel or protective cover through which IR LEDs emit infrared beams, invisible to the naked eye, creating an optical grid on the display’s surface. When any touch event happens, it blocks some of the light beams and Pho
